Up the lazy river...

With all the liquid sunshine we've enjoyed the past few weeks, the sump pumps in some units are working overtime.  Rain water is dumped into the storm drain, but in our case it seems to be collecting along Misty Way.

Let's take a trip up the creek, complete with landmarks and commentary.

Meeting Items of Interest

Check for Termites

We've had cases of termites in the neighborhood before, and none of us want another.  Please check your home for termites and termite damage.  If you don't know how, or don't know what to look for, here's a link to a site that will explain how to check for termites: 5 Things Exterminators Check During Termite Inspections.

Planned Capitol Expenses

Inspect and Fix Roof Leaks

Please check your attic for any leaks in the roof.  If you're unable to do this personally, and can't convince a friend or family member to help you out, please let Tom Jones know and he can put you in touch with someone who is able to climb into your attic and check for leaks.

Repair Curb and Lawn Damage

We have a certain amount of minimal damage to our curbs and lawn from snow plowing.  This will be repaired when spring is finally here.

Check Gutters for Debris and Damage

If your gutters aren't working correctly, please let Tom Jones know and the problem will be taken care of as the weather and maintenance schedule permits.

Check Stucco On Chimney

The association will be checking the stucco around the chimneys for repair.  If you see that yours needs to be repaired, please call or email Tom Jones and let him know.

Garage Door Repair or Replacement

This is a reminder to all owners that the garage door is the owner's responsibility.  A few units need new garage doors, or need the garage door painted.  Give us a few days to locate the correct color code from Sherwin-Williams, and we'll post it here.

The schedule for the next two meetings is:

March 26th
April 30th

Reminder and General Warning

I'd like to remind everyone that the next HOA meeting will be held on Monday, February 26 at 11:00 AM, at 1862 Misty Way (Joanne Kitchen's house).

I have it on good authority that there has been a white, adult male knocking on doors at night, possibly trying to solicit odd jobs, possibly not.  Here's the notice from the Nextdoor web site.

While McNaughten Village has a No Solicitation sign clearly posted at the entrance to Misty Way, I'm not entirely confident that a sign will effectively deter this fellow.  Should he come knocking on anyone's door, please call the Columbus Police Department and report this behavior.

Enjoy the warm weather, and we hope to see everyone at the meeting!

Snow Plowing for Wednesday, February 7, 2018

We're under a level two snow emergency, which translates into stay inside unless you have four wheel drive and know how to drive in the snow.  Even so, remember that you're sharing the road with drivers that are, charitably speaking, less than completely competent.  If you must go out, please drive carefully.

According to the Columbus Warrior Watch, our nearby streets of McNaughten, Livingston, and Main are all priority one streets, which means that your tax dollars will have them cleared out as soon as possible.  Misty Way, however, is privately owned and so will not be plowed out by the city. Ever. The latest news from the HOA Board of Directors is that we'll be plowed out this afternoon sometime.

A few neighbors have taken it upon themselves to shovel other neighbors' driveways and walks, which is a kind and generous thing to do. Our thanks to these Samaritans, as they all make our neighborhood a better place to live.

The results of the last election are in. We have a new line up for our Board of Directors. The new Board of Directors are: Tanika Johnson, 1...
