Condo Fee Increase

As of January 1st, 2022, our association dues (AKA condo fees) will increase as follows:

From        To

$225        $234

$248        $258

This increase is about 4% (4.03% for the larger condos), which is less than the current rate of inflation.  The two documents below were sent to all property owners, and may help explain why the increase is necessary as well as where and how our money was spent in 2021.

The current property manager, Tom Jones, will be retiring on November 30th, 2021.  The new property manager will be Rob Acquista.  Rob may be reached via email at racquista@advancedrealtymgmt.com, or by telephone at (614) 655-4550.

Shots Fired

From Joanne Kitchen, President of the McNaughten Village Condo Association:

To McNaughten Village residents:

The information I am sharing came from the unit owners referenced.  Please share this information with your neighbors.

The occurrences happened at approximately 12:00-12:30 AM on Thursday, September 16th, 2021.

A series of rapid gunfire was heard by me, Joanne, at approximately 12:00-12:30 a.m.  The next morning the unit owners at 1854 and 1874 reported the following.

1854: 1 bullet went through the upstairs bedroom wall, entering the gutter in the under hang, going through the wall making a hole in the drywall.

1872: 1 bullet went through the upstairs bedroom wall and one through the garage.

The police said that both were 9 mm bullets.  The police took the evidence.

Both residents filed police reports.

No one was hurt.

The police said that unit owners should report any gunshot heard to their non emergency number:  (614) 645-4545.

We all hear a lot of “fireworks” and perhaps don’t recognize the noise as gunshots. I'm one such person.

I don’t have any more information.

Thank you.

One resident, motivated by a sense of civic duty, conducted a search of McNaughten Road and recovered three spent shell casings, which he subsequently turned over to the Columbus Police.

You will find a link to the Columbus Police Report here.  We all hope that this was a random occurrence, which is likely, and will not be repeated.

Traffic Accident

On May 20th, 2021, at or around 10:20 PM, there was a traffic accident at the corner of East Livingston Avenue and McNaughten Road.  Five cars were involved; three that sustained minor damage to their car pulled into the Dollar Store's parking lot, and after a brief, heated discussion, departed the scene.  All three were headed north on McNaughten.  The driver of the heavily damaged miniature SUV in the bushes fled on foot, either into the wooded area adjacent to the storage sheds, east along Livingston Ave.  My thought is that he'd be seeking a resting place at a nearby bar.
