Crime Report: October 7, 2018

I read this report on a reliable source.  The incident happened in the vicinity of Lucks Road and Roselawn Avenue, which isn't all that far from us.  The reason I'm reporting it here is the audacity of the criminal - he's completely unafraid of the crime victim - and the location.

I just want to share with everyone that last night around 4:00 am I woke up to use the bathroom and heard a thud on my front door. I walked to the living room and heard someone turning my doorknob. I went to my front window to look outside and this person came right over to the window, came eye to eye with me, smiled at me and ran off! It was unnerving and scared the **it out of me!

It was dark and my porch light wasn’t on so I only saw his face briefly but he was a darker skinned male and looked to be in his late 20’s. Don’t know if anyone else was with him. I did call the Reynoldsburg Police and they drove around the neighborhood but didn’t see anyone.

I  keep thinking that thank God I just happened to wake up and heard that noise or who knows what may have happened if he did break into my home. I’m not trying to be a dramatic victim, but I now definitely have fear and paranoia that I didn’t have before :-(

You can read the original here, but you'll have to create an account.

Real Estate Sales

From the looks of things on realtor, we are living in a very desirable neighborhood.  These homes have only been on the market for a short time, and the owners are getting the asking price.

I'm sorry to see these families leave as they are all nice neighbors, but I'm glad their homes sold quickly and for a good price.

Speaking for myself, when I bought my home the things I found attractive about McNaughten Village were:

  • Low crime rate.  We have no real crime in McNaughten Village
  • Low condo association fees.
  • The amount of green space.  We have trees and the grounds are kept up.
  • The quiet neighbors.  I'm of an age when loud music at 10:00 PM is an irritation, not an invitation.

Can anyone think of any other items I might have missed?

Parking Problem

Contrary to popular superstition, Misty Way is not a public road; it's a private drive.  That means that Officer Friendly can't write a moving violation for anyone driving like a maniac on Misty Way, or backing out of their driveway without checking for obstructions (kids, dogs, other cars), or parking in the middle of the street at the corner so as to block traffic leaving our little slice of heaven and obstruct the vision of oncoming traffic.  In other words, parking where they shouldn't.

Like this genius.

Crime Reports as of August 28, 2018

Criminals don't like sub-zero temperatures and inclement weather any more than law abiding citizens do.  The hot weather has brought a few out of the wainscoting - like cockroaches.  We have what amounts to a crime free neighborhood here at McNaughten Village, but there have been a few recent incidents that are noteworthy.

Misty Way will be under construction for the next few days.

McNaughten Village Picnic

The picnic last Sunday (8/12/18) was a success in spite of a very little rain.  Everyone got plenty to eat and had a good time socializing.

Our thanks to Joanne Kitchen for the pictures.

Assault at E. Livingstone & McNaughten

Assault
The victim was a white male, 20 years old.  None of the attackers were caught.  This happened at 9:00 PM, while it's still light outside.  Please be aware of your surroundings when you go out walking.

It seems that we have a new tent city, population homeless, just to the North of us.  Tent City Just north of our little slice of paradise ...
