Construction Continues

Construction continues, with the cement company making hay while it isn't raining.  Once poured, the cement must be allowed to dry for 14 days before it will support the weight of a car.  So, if you want to leave any hand prints on your driveway for whatever reason, your window closes this afternoon.

The Moment I've Been Waiting For... the Pour

Fresh Cement
I've always been somewhat fascinated by the cement mixer ever since I saw it used in the old film, How to Murder Your Wife, a supposed comedy about a bachelor who has six too many and wakes up married to a woman who speaks no English.  There's a construction zone near his NYC apartment, and when the interloper vanishes without a trace Our Hero is arrested and charged with murder.  The prosecutor contends that Our Hero drugged his wife with goofballs and covered her with the gloop from the gloppitta-gloppitta machine (pictured above).  A successful defense is mounted to an all-male jury by Our Hero when he vividly describes how his happy, carefree life has been transformed into a henpecked hell by his wife, and how this is actually justifiable homicide.

In short, he walks.

I walked too, back to my apartment.  Parking is still at a premium and will be for 14 days.
